From her backyard workshop in Atlanta's West Midtown district, Courtney Hamill handcrafts stunning wares for Honeycomb Studio, her line of ceramics that includes gold-accented vases, holiday ornaments, even antlers. Here are a few of her favorite spots in the neighborhood and around her hometown:

WHERE TO EAT
"Bocado is the kind of restaurant that sneaks up on you. It's an upscale neighborhood joint that would be perfect for a first date, but it also boast the best burger in town. While the burger with garlic fries is definitely the must-order item on the menu, Bocado delivers all around. Great drinks, great menu, great service and great dessert. It's located in West Midtown, an emerging neighborhood that's becoming known as a center arts and design, so you can wander around and poke your head into a bunch of locally owned shops."

WHERE TO DRINK
"JCT Bar is my favorite bar in town. Located above a great restaurant next to active railroad tracks, JCT boasts one of the best patios (patio weather in Atlanta can extend to about 10 months per year) and some of the best seasonal cocktails in town. Although it's hard to go wrong with any of their drinks, during summer months, I usually order their signature shandy and I have a hard time saying no to any of their bourbon drinks during the fall and winter. It's too early in the day for a drink, you can find the best coffee shop in the world, Octane Coffee, just down the road. Keep it simple and get a classic latte, but be warned: it will ruin you for lattes anywhere else."

youngblood boutique

WHERE TO SHOP
"If you like independent design or supporting small creative businesses, Young Blood Boutique is a must visit. Home to a well-curated collection of ceramics, clothing, jewelry and paper goods, wandering around in this beautiful shop is like a tour through the best of Etsy. Be sure to check out the goods from local artisans like Crafts and Love and Megan Huntz."

WHERE TO EXPLORE
"You can't talk about exploring Atlanta without mentioning the BeltLine. An ongoing and ambitious project to loop many of Atlanta's in-town neighborhoods with a series of walking/biking trails and parks, the BeltLine offers a really unique way to get outside and enjoy a bunch of areas that were previously only accessible by car. The BeltLine is full of restaurants, public art, and local characters, so no two trips ever need be the same. Spots on the BeltLine of special note include the beautiful Piedmont Park and the soon-to-be-open Ponce City Market."
